Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I am in perimenopause or menopause?
Menopause is defined as 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period. Menopause typically onsets between ages 45 and 55 with the average age at 52 in the United States.
Perimenopause is the time leading up to menopause and may include irregular menstrual periods, such as periods that are shorter or longer or missed. Additional signs of perimenopause include vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats, vaginal dryness, low sex drive, and weight gain. Perimenopausal symptoms may begin as early as the mid-30s.
What are the benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Potential benefits of HRT include management of vasomotor symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats, improved sex drive, improved mood, increased energy, and improved sleep. Additionally HRT may aid in the prevention of osteoporosis and heart disease and improve memory and cognition.
Do I have to buy the supplements my provider recommends?
Supplements can help to balance hormones by providing key nutrients necessary for hormone production, regulation, and synthesis. Some clients can achieve hormone balance through detoxification and supplements alone, while others will require bioidentical hormone replacement to achieve balance. Working with your provider to develop the protocol that is right for you will ensure the greatest benefit!
Is hormone replacement therapy safe?
As we age, hormone levels naturally begin to decline. This decline can lead to side effects like hot flashes, fatigue, insomnia, low sex drive, weight gain, vaginal dryness, changes in mood and more.
In 2002, the results of the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) were released. The results of the study were unfortunately misinterpreted, and this led to widespread misconceptions regarding the safety of hormone replacement therapy. In particular, the study failed to account for the timing of hormone therapy, which has since been demonstrated to have a crucial impact on hormone therapy effectiveness and safety.
Transdermal methods of medication delivery, including creams, patches, and pellets, are typically considered safer than oral routes of administration for most hormones.
HRT can carry some risks, and it is important to consult with your provider to develop a tailored plan.
Why should I consider detox as part of my hormone protocol?
Optimizing your health and detoxing may correct minor hormone imbalances without the need for bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Additionally, detoxing the body and ensuring the gut microbiome is balanced will enhance the effects of hormone replacement therapy.
Free radicals and toxins can accumulate in the body as the byproducts of the body’s natural detoxification processes that occur in the liver during Phase 1 detoxification. These harmful products are prepared for elimination during Phase 2 detoxification, which is supported by a healthy diets and nutrients.
During Phase 3, conjugated toxins are transported through bile to the intestines to be eliminated in the stool. Issues can arise during each of these 3 phases to inhibit detoxification. CellCore products are designed to open these pathways first and then bind toxins for proper removal.
